Abstract
Calculations show ferromagnetic moments (3.1μ B) in Au-Cr-Au sandwiches, for monolayers of Cr. The measured moment (0.41μ B at 2 K) is larger in Cr monolayers than for thicker Cr samples. Results are discussed in terms of other studies of this system including those which showed superconductivity.
