Abstract

This paper reports the magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of La0.6Sr0.4Mn0.9V0.1O3 polycrystalline manganite elaborated using the solid-state reaction method. The X-ray powder diffraction shows that the prepared compound has a single phase. Magnetocaloric effect is calculated from the measurement of initial isothermal magnetization versus magnetic field at various temperatures. The enhanced relative cooling power (RCP) and \({\Delta } S_{\mathrm {M}}^{\max }\) values show that this sample has potentials for future technological application. Moreover, we have studied the universal behavior used as a further criterion to distinguish the order of the phase transition in La0.6Sr0.4Mn0.9V0.1O3.
