Abstract

In this work, the magnetic, magnetocaloric, magnetoresistance, thermodynamic, and transport properties of Tb2Co3Ge5 compound have been studied in detail. The magnetic state of the compound is antiferromagnetic with successive transitions at T = 31.5 K, 19.4 K, and 11 K. Besides, it exhibits the features of metamagnetic transitions. Due to the influence of metamagnetic transitions, a cross over between positive and negative magnetoresistance takes place. At high temperatures, the electrical resistivity obeys the Bloch-Grüniesen-Mott relation denoting the metallicity of the compound. The compound show both conventional and inverse magnetocaloric behaviors. Additionally, an enhanced magnetocaloric effect is evidenced in the paramagnetic region due to the presence of short-range ferromagnetic correlations which is subsequently verified in the electrical resistivity studies.
