Abstract

Mossbauer measurements are reported on the paramagnetic Au(II) complex : [(n-C4H9)4N]2 [Au(II) (mnt)2] (mnt = maleonitriledithiolate). The spectrum can be understood in terms of slow spin relaxation. The sign of the magnetic hyperfine coupling is negative. The isomer shift is smaller than that of Au(III) (mnt)[MATH]. Both quadrupole splitting and isomer shift are discussed in terms of covalent bonding.
