Abstract

We present the effect of the magnetic field on the Raman spectra of Pr 0.65 Ca 0.35 MnO 3 polycrystalline samples. In the absence of the external magnetic field two main Raman peaks at 470 and 610 cm −1 are detected at different excitation wavelengths. This structure is well known and corresponds to the orthorhombic phase of this material. A new distinct peak at 447 cm −1 appears as result of magnetic field application. The observation of this effect is found to depend on excitation wavelengths.
