Abstract

In this paper, a new energy harvesting method and an energy management algorithm are proposed for power sensors used in remote locations such as those in power transmission towers. A magnetic field energy harvester, along with its energy management algorithm, is designed to supply a group of remotely located sensors. The overall system provides a compact, cost-effective harvester solution to supply sustainable energy for reliable sensor operation. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) with the coupled-circuit simulation results are provided to verify the proposed harvester and energy management optimization.
