Abstract

The contact structure of the interrupter for the DC vacuum circuit breaker (VCB) is proposed in this paper. Based on the different structure, magnetic properties of the transverse magnetic field (TMF) and axial magnetic field (AMF) contacts, a hybrid AMF-TMF cup shape contact is presented. The steady magnetic field and the residual magnetic field has been analyzed using the finite element method (FEM). From the simulation results, it can be seen that: for the cognition of steady magnetic field, the middle region TMF of the hybrid AMF-TMF cup shape contact is enhanced, and the AMF in the central region is increased significantly. The RMF value for the novel hybrid cup is much smaller than that of the traditional cup, which is more favorable for the metal vapor diffusion and effective dissipation of the arc energy.
