Abstract

The present work reports the preparation of novel magnetic Fe3O4@TiO2@NH2@PMo12O40 nanocatalyst and its successful application in the synthesis of a series of pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives by a three-component reaction of 6-amino-2-(thio or alkylthio)pyrimidin-4(3H)-one, malononitrile and aryl aldehyde in H2O at 80 °C in excellent yield (92–98%) and short reaction time (5–15 min). The catalyst was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, SEM, EDX, VSM and TEM techniques. The catalyst was used and recycled in 8 runs without a significant loss in catalytic activity.
