Abstract

ABSTRACT Characterization and test a magnetic graphene oxide (GO) nanocomposite (Fe3O4-GO) in the photo-degradation of Methylene Blue (MB), Reactive Black 5 (RB), and Acid Blue 80 (AB) dyes were investigated in this work. Measurements indicated that GO was decorated by Fe3O4. Kinetic tests showed that the process was more efficient in degrade MB – %Degradation MB>RB>AB; also in the regeneration and reuse of the photocatalyst. Regarding the phytotoxicity, all seeds germinated, although a decrease in the root length after the photodegradation was observed. In overall, Fe3O4-GO seems to be a promissory photocatalyst for the degradation of different textile dyes.
