Abstract

Neutron inelastic scattering from single crystals of YbCu 2Si 2 shows a weakly anisotropic magnetic response consisting principally of two broad humps around 3 and ≈7.5THz. While anisotropic single crystal susceptibility and Mossbauer effect data can be fitted reasonably well within an ICF picture, the model does not account very well for the observed neutron inelastic scattering whose origin may be more complex.
