Abstract

Submillimeter spectra (10–100cm -1) were measured for the first time in the orthorhombic antiferromagnet dicalcium ferrite Ca 2Fe 2O 5 in zero magnetic field. Two magnon modes have been observed by means of Fourier spectroscopy at temperatures 4.2–350K. Experiments indicate that the effective anisotropy fields in the ca- and cb-planes differ by more than an order of magnitude.
