Abstract

Magnetization measurements have been performed at 4.2 K in semicontinuous fields up to 35 T on free powders of ferrimagnetically-ordered Er2(Fe, Mn)17C and (Er, Y)6Fe23 compounds. The field-induced non-collinearity of the Er- and T-sublattice magnetizations provides information regarding the Er-T interaction strength JErT. The JErT values derived in this way are compared with values of the interaction strength obtained by means of analysis of the Curie temperatures.
