Abstract

This paper presents the results of 60 Hz longitudinal electric field (LEF) profile measurements on two power transmission lines. The measured values are compared to predicted profiles. The ability to provide accurate LEF predictions from transmission lines is necessary for assessing potential interference problems for common corridors with pipelines, rail facilities and other long ground return objects. The results indicate good agreement between measured and predicted values. However, the necessity for good knowledge of the power line currents is illustrated.
