Abstract
Abstract Electronic transitions and orientations of pigments in reaction center complex isolated from a purple sulfur bacterium Chromatium tepidum were determined by magnetic circular dichroism and linear dichroism. They are very similar to those of non-sulfur purple bacteria, indicating a convergent nature of this complex in the photosynthetic organisms.
