Abstract

Magnetization curves of an YFe3 single crystal were measured along the basal plane and the c-axis within the temperature range of 2–600K. Their analysis provided temperature dependencies of the parameter p=(Mep−Mha)/Mep characterizing saturation magnetization anisotropy and magnetocrystalline anisotropy constants K1 and K2. The latter was obtained using the modified Sucksmith-Thompson method and the numeric technique of approximation which takes into account slight misorientation between applied magnetic field and the hard magnetization axis allowing to describe magnetization curves accurately.
