Abstract

AbstractA study of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy of electrodeposited (001) and (110) single crystal f.c.c. Co—Ni films of thicknesses between 100 and 1000 Åhas been carried out, at 20 °C, by torque magnetometry. The composition dependence of K1 from the thicker films is found to agree with previous results from bulk alloys of the Ni‐rich compositions, but, apart from the work of Andrä and Spinarke (1969), differs from previous results from thinfilms. The constants K2 and K3 have been measured and have both been found to be negative over the whole composition range.
