Abstract

Abstract A detailed study of magnetization and magnetoresistance has been carried out on a series of Au 1− x Mn x alloys (0.10⩽ x ⩽0.18) in the temperature range 4.2–300 K and in magnetic fields up to 9 T. The dc magnetization measurements show an irreversibility between the zero-field-cooled and field-cooled data while a fairly large negative magnetoresistance is observed in the alloys. These results are indicative of a cluster glass behaviour as has been observed in the AuFe alloys.
