Abstract
Nanocrystalline Supermalloy powders were obtained by mechanical alloying under argon atmosphere and subsequent annealing. Several milling times have been used and a heat treatment has been performed in order to improve the solid-state reaction and remove the internal stresses. The evolution of the Supermalloy formation by mechanical alloying and annealing was confirmed by X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. A minimum in the spontaneous magnetisation vs. milling time shows the presence of different processes in the Supermalloy formation by milling.
