Abstract

Abstract Magnetic and magnetocaloric effect of polycrystalline Pr0.55(Ca0.75Sr0.25)0.45MnO3 compound have been studied extensively. Temperature dependent magnetization study reveals that the ferromagnetic transition takes place at T ∼ 220 K and an antiferromagnetic transition appears at T ∼ 150 K. Associated with the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic transition, large normal and inverse magnetocaloric effect of the polycrystalline Pr0.55(Ca0.75Sr0.25)0.45MnO3 compound are observed. Magnetocaloric effect of that compound is addressed by considering the competing nature of ferromagnetic metallic and charge ordered antiferromagnetic insulating domains at the low temperature region.
