Abstract

Polycrystalline perovskite manganites La0.65−xEuxCa0.35MnO3 (x = 0, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.15) were prepared by sol–gel method, and their structure and magnetic properties were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), respectively. The results showed that all obtained perovskite manganites had a single phase with a perovskite structure. With the increasing Eu content, both the unit cell volume and Curie temperature TC decreased. It was found that the maximum change in magnetic entropy for La0.6Eu0.05Ca0.35MnO3 sample reached 5.778 J kg−1 K−1 when a magnetic field of 1.5 T was applied.
