Abstract

PtMnSb thin films were prepared by evaporation and the influence of annealing conditions on magnetic and magneto-optic characteristics was investigated. The saturation magnetization of films in which C2-phase was formed was found to be considerably lower than that of film without it. Measurement of the Kerr rotation showed that the formation of C2-phase also had a deleterious effect on the magneto-optic effect.
