Abstract

Magnetic and electric properties of the pseudoternary system UNi 1−xCo xGa 5 were investigated by means of specific heat, magnetic susceptibility and electric resistivity measurements. The antiferromagnetic ordering temperature, T N , which corresponds to 85.5 K for x = 0, is depressed with increasing x and becomes zero near x ⋍ 0.37 . The low-temperature electronic specific heat coefficient, γ, and magnetic susceptibility extrapolated to 0 K, χ(0), are obtained as a function of x. The results are discussed in terms of f-spd hybridization.
