Abstract

The magnetic after-effect (MAE) of ribbons of commercial amorphous Fe 40Ni 40P 14B 6, following various thermal and magnetic pre-treatments of the specimens, has been investigated. MAE results are supplemented by observations of the magnetic domain structure, using the magneto-optical Kerr effect. The magnetic domain structure of the system was found to evolve during magnetic disaccomodation, giving rise to a contribution to the irreversible relaxation.
