Abstract

Staining by dyes enables effective peeling of the internal limiting membrane and remove vitreous and preretinal membrane without damaging the retina, especially at the macula. Retina surgeons use this safe method called chromovitrectomy. We present a case that developed toxicity of Membrane Blue Dual; a combination of three dyes used thrice during macular hole surgery. Although the macular hole was sealed, the vision did not improve and four months after surgery, the retina and choroid at the macula showed atrophic and ischemic changes.
