Abstract
A 44-year-old woman with systemic lupus erythematosus, receiving prednisolone, presented with a macular star and an oval spot surrounded by a ring-shaped subretinal fibrin (Fig A, arrowhead). The oval spot corresponded with the site of leak on fluorescein angiography (Fig B). OCT showed subretinal fluid, intraretinal hyperreflective foci, and a hyporeflective vacuole associated with the leakage site (Figs C, arrowhead, D). The patient was diagnosed with central serous chorioretinopathy. Severe fibrinous exudate not only accumulated in the subretinal space but also invaded the outer plexiform layer of the retina (yellow arrows), resulting in macular star formation (Magnified version of Fig A-D is available online at www.aaojournal.org).
