Abstract
Current-voltage characteristics of a small Josephson junction are studied taking into account quantized energy levels in the Josephson potential. In the semiclassical regime, it is predicted that voltage spikes will appear in a usual zerovoltage state branch due to sequential processes of resonant tunneling of a phase variable and dissipative transitions between levels within a well. Anomalous current-voltage characteristics observed recently is also discussed.
