Abstract

Macroscopic lateral correlations were revealed between the PL intensities of a 2D electron gas measured at different points of the sample under giant optical fluctuations conditions in single GaAs/Al 0.3Ga 0.7As quantum well. It was observed that the coefficient of correlation of the radiation intensities measured in the vicinity of filling factor 2 at different points of the 2D plane separated by a distance of 8 mm is close to unity. This fact indicates that an electron 2D system becomes uniform under the quantum Hall effect conditions and local electron concentrations at different points of the sample are essentially equal. It suggests the rise of a new coherent macroscopic state of two-dimensional electrons.
