Abstract
In this study, a Markovian model for gating kinetics of sodium channel in dissociated cerebellar Purkinje neurons is developed. This model is developed based on voltage-clamped, resurgent and action potential evoked currents, known as macroscopic currents. The model is similar to the sodium model developed by Bean and Raman with some modifications made in the number of states and channel rate constants. Model parameters are determined by minimizing the error between model responses and three experimental data sets. The model reproduces quantitatively all features of the experimental data sets, with minor discrepancies.
