Abstract

Cover: The optical micrographs show thermoplastic polyimide surfaces after sliding at different temperatures. The tribological mechanisms of polymers can be evaluated with Raman spectroscopy, showing three sliding regimes with hydrolysis inducing high friction and low wear, imidisation inducing low friction and high wear and finally melting inducing high friction and high wear. Further details can be found in the article by P. Samyn,* G. Schoukens, F. Verpoort, J. Van Craenenbroeck, and P. De Baets on page 523.
