Abstract

The paper describes the formulation and verification of a generic SPICE macromodel for series-resonant convertor circuits. The model is derived from the averaged time-invariant state-space equations that arise from a piecewise sinusoidal approximation and its frequency domain transformation. The single macromodel so derived allows the entire convertor to be included with its control circuitry and load with little (computational) overhead. AC, DC and transient analyses can be carried out in the normal manner, in a fraction of the time required to model the entire system at component level. Simulation results based on this model have been compared with full simulations, and the results found to be in excellent agreement.
