Abstract
The author’s work is focusing on the torsion dynamic analysis of the ship hull made of composite materials. Two numerical analysis (one of them being a new proposed method) and experiments are developed on a simplified typical hull model of a container ship. The work’s aim is to analyze the influence of the very large open decks on the dynamic torsion behavior of the ship hull. The torsion analysis is performed on a scale model (1:50) of the simplified container ship, made of layered composite material. The first 10 natural frequencies are determined with the proposed thin-walled beam macroelement method (software code TORS) and are compared with the results obtained with FEM package soft COSMOS/M and with the experiments.
