Abstract

Macroderoides trilobatus sp. n. is described from the bowfin (Amia calva Linn.) from Georgia. The genus Macroderoides is emended to include a trilobed ovary which distinguishes the new species. Dying fish collected from the Ochlocknee River, Colquit County, Georgia, during a period of very low water were sent to the Southeastern Cooperative Fish Disease Project -yw-? Diagnostic Laboratory. Examination revealed PRE a new species of Macroderoides parasitic in r ,l P the intestine of a bowfin (Amia calva). Ranges, given in parentheses, are based on c measurements from nine mature specimens. GP Macroderoides Pearse 1924 Char. emend. Generic diagnosis: Macroderoididae, Macroderoidinae.
