Abstract

Electrochemical discharge machining (ECDM) is a hybrid machining process based on integration of electrochemical machining (ECM) and electrical discharge machining (EDM). In recent years, the ECDM process becomes advantageous due to its applicability to machine various materials regardless to their properties. This process is generally utilized for generating micro-holes, micro-channels and micro-grooves on conductive and non-conductive materials. This review article presents the review study on machining of various materials including glass, composites, ceramics, steel plates and super-alloys by ECDM process. Additionally, it presents various developments in ECDM process and statistical analysis of previous ten years with future research possibilities.
