Abstract

In the factory, machine control commands are generated based on machining feature descriptions given by the product model. Descriptions of the machining features are derived by applying machining constraints to the product model for design. Machining constraints consist of knowledge about the machine itself and knowledge about the machining methods. The derivation process of the product model for machining through the generation of machining features is discussed in this paper. In this derivation, machining knowledge such as machine specifications, available tools, feasible operation order and estimated machining conditions are used.
