Abstract

The provision of healthcare for machinery is an increasingly important aspect of modern maintenance practice. This paper reviews the provision of equipment maintenance by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the context of a healthcare scheme. The actions required by healthcare scheme providers are detailed, and the relationship between the equipment operator and the OEM healthcare provider is discussed. Incentive schemes are often used to improve the overall benefit of the healthcare scheme and to resolve potential conflicts of interest between the healthcare provider and a machinery operator. Therefore, the impact of incentive schemes is discussed.
