Abstract

ABSTRACTThis paper gives a very brief and simplified description of the Naval Telecommunications System pursuant to explaining the need for machine‐aided message processing. It sketches the history of machine‐aided message processing systems, and it describes the present state‐of‐the‐art in machine‐aided processing. It also gives some insight into the future of this technology, insofar as the Navy sees it, at least; and finally, it touches on a few problem areas.
