Abstract
The first (baseline) screening LDCT generates more early recall imaging studies or diagnostic referrals compares to subsequent screening rounds where management decisions have the advantage of information on nodule growth or appearance of new nodules. The ILST protocol (Ann Am Thorac Soc. 2020 Apr;17(4):503-512) - a personalized approach to lung nodule management is based on malignancy probability of lung nodules (N Engl J Med 2013;369:908-17). Currently, this is the only protocol that triages screenees with no lung nodule or very low risk lung nodules to biennial screening instead of annual screening.
