Abstract
Abstract The aim of this work is to present: 1) A critical analysis of the results known in literature on the absorption and emission properties of the Z4-center in divalent doped KC1 crystals. 2) Evidence, by lifetime measurements, of the existence of an M A-type center, whose absorption band strongly overlaps that of the Z4-center. 3) A discussion of the radiative lifetime values obtained by the author for the excited state of the Ma- and MA-type centers and the unperturbed M-center. 4) Discussion on the correctness of the models for the Z4-center, supported by indirect proof of the Briginets model (Z4-center analog of the N1-center in undoped alkali halides) has been achieved.
