Abstract
Radioresistance of lung cancer results in an unacceptable rate of locoregional failure. Although radiation (RT) is known to induce apoptosis, our recent study showed that knockdown of pro-apoptotic proteins Bak/Bax resulted in increased autophagy and lung cancer radiosensitivity in vitro. To further explore the potential of apoptosis inhibition to enhance lung cancer therapy, we tested M867, a novel reversible caspase-3 inhibitor, in combination with RT in vivo and in vitro.
