Abstract

X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA) is a rare humoral immunodeficiency resulting from a mutation in Bruton's tyrosine kinase, a signal transduction molecule required for B-cell development. This case describes a patient with recurrent right otitis media (AOM) who presented with pneumonia and neutropenia, prompting workup for XLA.
