Abstract

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for the treatment of early gastric cancers (EGCs) creates large artificial ulcers with greater risk of bleeding. Therefore, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) or H2-receptor antagonists (H2RAs) are used for inducing rapid healing of ESD-induced artificial ulcers in clinical practice. However, there is no consensus regarding the optimal duration of PPI treatment after ESD and various healing-associated factors of ESD-induced ulcers.
