Abstract
Hereditary Angioedema is described as periodic, self-limiting subcutaneous or submucosal edema without urticaria that can affect any part of the body caused by a deficiency of functional C1 esterase inhibitor. The SERPING1 gene governs the production of C1 inhibitor and mutations may lead to low levels or low function C1 esterase inhibitor.
