Abstract

M X-ray production cross sections for selected thick targets of Hf, W, Re, Pt, Au and Pb impacted by 75–300keV protons are presented and compared with ECPSSR and RPWBA theories using different atomic data bases, including comparisons with other investigators. The results for the major M X-ray transitions exhibit a universal character with respect to the reduced proton velocity in agreement with expectations from theory.
