Abstract

In a sibship of ten adults, five persons have died of lymphoreticular malignancy. Tests of immune function in each of four surviving sibs have shown abnormalities of both humoral and cellular immunity (immunoglobulin abnormalities, depressed skin test hypersensitivity and diminished lymphocyte responsiveness to stimulation and phytohemagglutinin). In one of these sibs a subsequent diagnosis of lymphosarcoma has been made. These findings suggest a genetic relationship between immunologic abnormalities and susceptibility to neoplasia of lymphoid tissue.
