Abstract

Mixed wife-husband leukocyte cultures were set up from the samples of 16 sterile, 18 aborter, and 13 fertile couples and 101 couples of unrelated combinations, in order to investigate the role of immunologic factors. The mean percentage of labeled cells and the standard deviations in mixed leukocyte cultures were 10.1 ± 6.8 for sterile, 9.2 ± 6.5 for aborter, 4.7 ± 6.5 for fertile, and 6.6 ± 5.5 for random combination couples. The sterile group was significantly higher (p < 0.05) than the fertile and randomly combined groups. The mixed leukocyte cultures were independent of the blood types of ABO, Rh, and MN, and of salivary secretion titer of ABH substances.
