Abstract

Lye strictures of the esophagus are discussed briefly, and highlights in the development of methods of esophageal replacement are reviewed. The technic of esophagocologastrostomy utilizing the right colon and right half of the transverse colon carried to the neck through the anterior mediastinal substernal route is described. A case is reported of lye stricture of the esophagus in which this method of reconstruction was employed.
