Abstract

The relevance of the research lies in the revival in today’s conditions of non-traditional witnesses of history — samples of music advertising. The demand for services related to the art of music indicates a certain level of cultural development. The study may reflect the infrastructure of music services at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries and become a fruitful source of scientific discoveries.The aim of the article. In addition to educational motivation, this article is designed to deepen the development of the problem of musical iconography in Lviv in the late XIXth — early XXth centuries, as this aspect can help reveal interesting facts about the history of musical culture of the city. In addition, in modern world the topic of advertising is quite relevant, so to revive it in a highly specialized field seems to us very important.Research methodology provides for the reconstruction of the facts of musical history through visual and informative analysis of Lviv advertising at the turn of the XIX–XX centuries. The classification of the identified samples and their further processing can bring to a new level of understanding of the cultural and artistic life of the city of that time.Conclusions. Musical art in the late ХІХth — early ХХth centuries in Lviv developed in different directions and in different locations. Due to its wide distribution, there was a demand, and hence a supply of goods and services in the field of music. Systematization showed how popular such places were. It is important to emphasize the fact that today with the dominance of goods of various grades and a wide price range and the ability to buy any product, we do not meet so many music stores, repair shops or rental of instruments. Obviously, this indicates a general decline in interest to this kind of “product”, the transformation of the market in this area, as well as the need for scientific understanding of these processes. However, in the context of the study of the cultural and artistic space of Lviv and musical iconography in particular, a thorough analysis of advertising can become a productive scientific tool.Prospects for further research on this topic are promising for us, quite promising. Advertising is an area that is involuntarily used by everybody. Similarly, a detailed analysis of ads in the field of music services can help reveal all the new facts. The topic is poorly studied, equally artifacts for its development exist and are waiting for their professional researcher.
