Abstract

Abstract A review is made of experimental evidence on the energy losses of protons and deuterons in materials of low atomic number, at energies belowa bout 350 keV. The discrepancies between results of different experiments are discussed, and an attempt is made to arrive at a plausible curve of energy loss as a function of energy for deuterons in heavy ice at energies below 700 keV. The region 0–100 keV., which is of considerable interest in the study of the D-D reaction, is given special attention.
