Abstract

We here report the case of a 31-year old patient, with no previous history, admitted with closed trauma of his left foot following motorcycle accident. The patient had pain with total functional disability. Physical examination found generalized edema of the forefoot without any skin opening or sensitivo-motor deficit. The X-ray of the forefoot objectified dislocation of tarsometatarsal joint at the last two rays associated with a fracture of the head of the 2nd and 4th metatarsal joint (A). CT scan with 3D reconstruction allowed to specify the variant of plantar dislocation which is exceptional (B). The patient was admitted to the operating room for the treatment of tarsometatarsal arthroereisis of the last two rays with reduction and internal fixation of the fractures of the metatarsal heads of M2 and M4 by Kirschner wires. The patient was immobilized in a cast boot without additional support for 45 days followed by functional rehabilitation.
