Abstract

We here report the case of a 30-year old patient, with no previous medical-surgical history, admitted to Hospital with left blunt wrist trauma. The patient reported mechanical wrist pain associated with total functional disability due to falling down the stairs with landing on the wrist in palmar flexion. Physical examination showed “dinner fork” deformity and radial club hand. Standard radiography showed radiocarpal dislocation with avulsion of the anterior margin of the distal part of the radius (A). The patient underwent open reduction with internal fixation by anterior console plate and posterior radiocarpal debridement. Then the wrist was immobilized using plaster cast for 45 days. After 6 months of follow-up, the patient still had joint stiffness; being right-handed, this didn´t have major impact on his daily activity.
